November saw a second lockdown in England, the easing of one in Wales and increasing tiered restrictions in Scotland. We were able to maintain our service throughout restrictions across the UK and we’re happy to report that November saw the highest average scrap car prices of the year so far! Making it the seventh consecutive month to show an increase.
Scrap car prices were up by 4% compared to October and compared to this time last year, they’re up a considerable 13%.
With the festive period ahead of us and various restrictions still in place across the country, we’re still able to provide our service and will be keeping an eye on the scrap car prices, which look set to maintain.
There’s a number of factors that can influence the scrap value of your car, including the global demand for scrap metal, as well as the make, model, age, weight, condition, and location.
About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout the UK. We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
For the fifth consecutive month the Ford Focus was the most common vehicle scrapped. The average scrap price for a Ford Focus was up from £146 in October to £163 in November, almost a 12% increase!
There’s been no movement in the top cars scrapped compared to last month. However, the average values have changed, with three increases and two very slight reductions.
Tip: you can move this table side to side on mobile devices if required.
